However, this information is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

Cookie Policy

In order to provide the service to customers, this website uses cookies, local shared objects (aka “Flash Cookies) and web storage.

A cookie is a piece of information in the form of a very small text file that is placed on an internet user’s hard drive [or equivalent storage device]. It is generated by a web page server, which is basically the computer that operates a website. The information the cookie contains is set by the server and it can be used by that server whenever the user visits the site. A cookie can be thought of as an internet user’s identification card, which tells a website when the user has returned. [source: aboutcookies.org]

Local shared objects (aka “Flash Cookies”) and web storage are technologies very similar in nature to cookies. A detailed explanation of how this work is beyond the scope of this document.

Managing Cookies, Local Shared Objects (aka “Flash Cookies”) and Web Storage

Managing Cookies

Internet browser software normally allows users to control (delete or disable) cookies.

Please note that disabling or deleting cookies would degrade the level of service this website provides (some of the website features require cookies to function – disabling cookies would effectively disable these features).

The exact method of controlling cookies varies and is dependent on a variety of factors:

– internet browser software (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox)

– operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows 7, OS X, Android)

– a physical device (e.g. iPhone, notebook, laptop)

For detailed instructions on how to manage cookies (control and delete), please visit aboutcookies.org.

Alternatively, try your internet browser software vendor’s website (e.g. Google ChromeMicrosoft Internet Explorer).

If you are using a mobile you could try device manufacturer’s website (e.g. Apple iPhone).

Managing Local Shared Objects (aka “Flash Cookies”)

Please see Adobe’s website for detailed instructions on how to manage local shared objects storage settings.

Managing Web Storage

Please see internet browser software vendor’s website for detailed instructions (e.g. Google Chrome).

Use of cookies by Azuri

Azuri uses cookies to enable us to personalise your visits to our website. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored on your computer’s hard drive by your browser. They enable us to identify your device, or you when you have logged in.

We use the following cookies:

CookiePurpose
Web browser cookies (‘first-party cookies’ or ‘strictly necessary cookies’)These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features. Cookies also help us to improve the performance of our website to provide you with a better user experience.
Third-party cookiesThird-party cookies are set by a different organisation to the owner of the website you are visiting. For example, we might use a third-party analytics company which will set its own cookie to perform this service (such as Google Analytics). The website you are visiting may also contain content embedded from, for example, YouTube or Flickr, and these sites may set their own cookies. More significantly, a website might use a third-party advertising network to deliver targeted advertising on their website. These may also have the capability to track your browsing across different sites. Third-party cookies will only be used by us to analyse usage rates and error management of the site and as such will help us to improve the performance of the website. They will NOT be used to gather information that could be used for marketing to the user; or to remember user preferences or ID’s outside a single session.
Session cookiesSession cookies are stored only temporarily during a browsing session and are deleted from the user’s device when the browser is closed. Once you have closed down your browser, the cookie is automatically deleted.
Persistent cookies (functionality cookies)These cookies are saved on your computer for a fixed period (usually a year or longer) and are not deleted when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies are used where you might need to be known in the likelihood that you will return for further browsing sessions. For example, websites such as www.bbc.co.uk use this type of cookie to store your preferences, so that they are remembered for the next visit – if you set your location on the BBC homepage in order to receive your local news and weather forecast, cookies are used to save your location preference. Functionality cookies may also take the form of ‘flash cookies’, which are stored in your Adobe Flash Player rather than your browser. These are used to provide features such as auto-resume on iPlayer, by remembering the point to which you played a programme, and for saving preferences such as your volume setting.

We do not sell the information collected by cookies, nor do we disclose the information to third parties, except where required by law (for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies) and they do not contain any personally identifiable information.

If you do not want to receive cookies, you can modify your browser so that it notifies you when cookies are sent to it or you can refuse cookies altogether. You can also delete cookies that have already been set.

If you wish to restrict or block web browser cookies that are set on your device, then you can do this through your browser settings; the ‘Help’ function within your browser should tell you how.

Except for essential cookies, all cookies will expire after 2 years.

How we use your information

When you visit our website

When someone visits our website we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard Internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.

We do not make and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be upfront about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

When you post information on a discussion board or comment publicly on an article on one of our sites, the information you post and your username are publicly accessible. This information can be viewed online and collected by other people.

We are not responsible for the way these other people use this information.

When contributing to a discussion, we strongly recommend you avoid sharing any personal details, and especially information that can be used to identify you directly such as your name, age, address and name of employer.

We are not responsible for the privacy of any identifiable information that you post in our online community or other public pages of the site.

When you use our apps

Azuri apps use information on the content you have viewed. A list of the articles that you have recently viewed is cached in the local storage on your mobile device. You can delete this reading history in the settings of the app. Information on what you have viewed in the app and information on bugs and crashes is also sent to us. You can choose to receive notifications on your mobile device via the app. You can manage these notifications in the settings of the app.

When you contact us via social media

If you send us a private or direct message via our social media channels, the message will not be shared with any other organisations. We reserve the right to use any messages or feedback, for example as part of marketing campaigns or testimonial promotions.

We use this information to understand our customer base and external interests, to learn how to best serve our audience.

When you phone us or email us

When you phone us or contact us by email with general queries, we may also handle your personal information (your name, contact details and the other details you provide to us) in order to provide the customer services you have asked us to. This could be when you ask us to provide more information about our services.

We rely on your consent to handle your personal information in this way. If you do not provide us with the personal information we request from you for customer services purposes, we may not be able to fully answer your queries.

We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt and protect email traffic in line with government guidance on email security. If your email service does not support TLS, you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.

We will also monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software. Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.

When you make a complaint to us

When we receive a complaint from a person we make up a file containing the details of the complaint. This normally contains the identity of the complainant and any other individuals involved in the complaint.

We will only use the personal information we collect to process the complaint and to check on the level of service we provide. We do compile and publish statistics showing information like the number of complaints we receive, but not in a form which identifies anyone.

We usually have to disclose the complainant’s identity to whoever the complaint is about. This is inevitable where, for example, the accuracy of a person’s record is in dispute. If a complainant doesn’t want information identifying him or her to be disclosed, we will try to respect that. However, it may not be possible to handle a complaint on an anonymous basis.

We will keep personal information contained in complaint files in line with our retention policy. This means that information relating to a complaint will be retained for two years from closure. It will be retained in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted according to the ‘need to know’ principle.

Similarly, where enquiries are submitted to us, we will only use the information supplied to us to deal with the enquiry and any subsequent issues and to check on the level of service we provide.

When you purchase an Azuri product

–  We have to hold the details of the people who have requested or purchased our services in order to provide it.

–  We may use your information to carry out regular surveys to find out if they are happy with the level of service they received.

–  The information we collect also allows us to keep you posted on Azuri’s latest product announcements, updates.

–  We also use personal information to help us create, develop, operate, deliver, and improve our products and services. We may also use your personal information for account security purposes.

–  We also use your personal information to send important notices, such as communications about purchases and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies. Because this information is important to your interaction with Azuri, you may not opt out of receiving these communications.

–  We may also use personal information for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve Azuir’s products, services, and customer communications.

–  If you enter into a contest or similar promotion we may use the information you provide to administer those programs.
