This pocket guide produced by Smart Villages initiative is a quick reference to off-grid technologies, policies, and impacts – including stories of successful village energy projects from across the global south. For remote off-grid villages, local solutions are often both more realistic and cheaper than national grid extension.

The Smart Villages initiative is being funded by the Cambridge Malaysian Education and Development Trust (CMEDT) and the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre (MCSC) and through a grant from the Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF).

Azuri Technologies, CEO Simon Bransfield Garth was interviewed as part of this project about the future of solar electrification in sub-Saharan Africa.
