Azuri shares vision of solar power with Kenyan business leaders
Azuri Technologies, a leader in pay-as-you-go solar technology, will headline Mind Speak, one of Nairobi’s leading business forums, Saturday 2 February. Opening the event will be Azuri Technologies CEO Simon Bransfield-Garth, who will deliver his unique insights on how pay-as-you-go solar is powering Africa’s distributed economy and empowering a new generation of off-grid consumers.
Business leaders and influencers will hear how pay-as-you-go solar is helping bridge the energy access gap while spurring economic development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Africa’s low rates of electrification—ranking among the poorest in the world— have been a major impediment to the continent’s economic growth and development prospects.
“Millions of people are unable to reach their full potential from a lack of basic amenities such as power and internet access”, explains Simon Bransfield-Garth.
“I am thrilled to be invited to share Azuri’s success and vision for solar as a driver of economic growth and development. The potential benefits from powering Africa’s distributed economy are substantial, from increasing productivity and employment, to increasing rates of financial inclusion and broader welfare gains,” he added.
Azuri will be joined on the podium by Unilever East Africa CEO Justin Apsey and APA Group CEO Ashok Shah among other local dignitaries for an interactive discussion around how solar innovation and local industry partnerships are helping to deliver modern goods and services to off-grid consumers who have traditionally been underserved and operate outside of the formal economy.
Azuri and consumer goods giant Unilever partnered in 2018 to offer exclusive promotions to off-grid customers, including free Sunlight washing powder on every top up of the pay-as-you-go system.
Azuri has also partnered with APA Insurance in Kenya to offer off-grid solar customers APA’s low cost income cover and life insurance product HospiCash, helping to extend financial inclusion to consumers who were previously unreachable with mainstream insurance products.
From solar home lighting to solar satellite TV, Azuri systems are designed to deliver world class performance at an affordable price for all customers who happen to live away from mains power.
Mind Speak business forum, hosted by Rich Management CEO Aly-Khan Satchu will take place at the Movenpick Hotel in Nairobi, Saturday 2 February, 9am-12noon.
